 Bursary Scheme

The Mobile Movies Bursary Scheme awarded £800 to each of the 5 organisations participating in the project. The Scheme funded projects proposed by young people on their own or with a group of friends to enable them to develop and direct their own media projects.

The youth organisations and the young people managed the Bursary Schemes themselves, forming media groups to guide the projects. ICDC supported and facilitated the development of the Scheme through the provision of advice, training, access to equipment and showcasing opportunities for content produced through the Scheme.

Projects funded by the Scheme include:

  • A residential trip to the Museum of Film and TV in Bradford to explore how the young people could train others in Mobile Movies
  • Films highlighting youth issues which will be shown to local decision makers, with a view to influencing positive change
  • A film about a young boy who dreams of becoming a movie star, attains his ambition then loses everything
  • A film about peer pressure in which a young woman falls in with a bad group
  • A six week 12 hr project designed to introduce young people to the basics of filmmaking (including blue screen technology)
  • Video diaries
